Re-drafting the Steelers horrid 2022 NFL draft
The Steelers are still trying to recover from the dreadful 2022 NFL draft that Kevin Colbert put together before leaving the team.
The 2022 NFL draft was an ugly going-away present for the Pittsburgh Steelers from former General Manager Kevin Colbert. Colbert had been mailing it in for a couple of years prior to this but 2022 was the icing on the cake. In case you needed a reminder, the last of the 2022 draft class left the team this offseason and here's the current status of the seven players.
Round 1 (20th overall): Kenny Pickett, QB (Pitt) - Traded to Philadelphia in 2024 . Round 2 (52nd overall): George Pickens, WR (Georgia) - Traded to Dallas in 2025 . Round 3 (84th overall): DeMarvin Leal, DE (Texas A&M) - Released in 2025 .
Round 4 (138th overall): Calvin Austin III, WR (Memphis) - Signed with NY Giants in 2026 . Round 6 (208th overall): Connor Heyward, TE/FB (Michigan State) - Signed with Las Vegas in 2026 . Round 7 (225th overall): Mark Robinson, LB ( Ole Miss ).
- Not on a roster Round 7 (241st overall): Chris Oladokun, QB (South Dakota State). - Signed with Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 Taking those same positions, here's our redraft, going round for round with the same positions in the same round and were available with the same pick. First round - QB Malik Willis Second round WR Alec Pierce Third round - DT DeMarvin Leal Fourth round - WR Khalil Shakir Sixth round - TE/FB Connor Heyward Seventh round - LB Mark Robinson Seventh round - QB Brock Purdy Obviously, not everything in a redraft is new, and not everything is a hit, but that's the point.
