The Patriots are reportedly releasing veteran quarterback Josh Dobbs.

The New England Patriots will have a new No. 2 quarterback heading into the 2026 season. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that the Patriots are releasing veteran backup Josh Dobbs after only one season with the team.

According to Rapoport, the team sought out trade options, but after failing to find a partner, they have now settled on cutting Dobbs from the roster. The possibility of a split was always there after the team agreed to a two-year, $4. 4 million extension with Tommy DeVito, who served as the team's No.

3 quarterback last season. They obviously liked what they saw from DeVito and will be moving forward with the 27-year-old signal-caller as Drake Maye's top backup. Stay tuned to Patriots Wire as more information becomes available for this developing story.
