Plaquemine baseball topples McKinley, Livonia, falls to Brusly
Green Devils breeze past Livonia and McKinley, but fall to district rival Brusly in a District 6-4A showdown.
The Plaquemine Green Devils notched a 1-1 showing in District 6-4A action and chalked a lopsided win in a non-district battle during the weekend. Head coach Evan Kissengerโs Green Devils (9-12) breezed to victory over McKinley but lost to Brusly in a back-to-back district outings. PLAQUEMINE 15, McKINLEY 0 : The three-inning rout over McKinley was all but certain when PHS piled 11 runs in the bottom of the first.
Four more in the next frame put the final touch on McKinley, which had notched hits. Designated hitter Jackson Jeansonne went 3-for-3 with three runs and five RBIs to lead the Green Devils. He had a homer and two triples.
Second baseman Christian Boudreaux tallied three runs and two RBIs. Right-fielder Reese LaPrairie scored two runs. BRUSLY 6, PLAQUEMINE 3: The loss to Brusly came in a nine-inning battle BHS won after three runs on the top of the ninth.
A two-run double by Coy Purpera and a Brayden Ray one-run single led Brusly to victory. Winning pitcher Colton Scivique struck out five Green Devils. It proved particularly frustrating for PHS, which led Brusly 3-1 after three innings, but one apiece in the third, fourth and fifth frames led to a stalemate.
