According to ESPN's Jesse Rogers , the AL Central club has signed veteran Reese McGuire to a one-year, $1. 2 million contract. McGuire's release from the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday presents him with a new opportunity.

This will be the 31-year-old's second stint with the White Sox, as he played 53 games with the organization in 2022. Kyle Teel's Grade 2 hamstring strain has McGuire, who has also spent time with the Toronto Blue Jays , Boston Red Sox , and Chicago Cubs , in line for the backup catching job behind Edgar Quero. McGuire can 'support' Quero โ€œWhen you look at Quero kind of moving into that top spot and how to best complement him, with Quero really doing most of his damage at the plate from the right side,โ€ White Sox manager Will Venable told MLB.
