Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and Brady Cook were not a good room at all. They've already begun their work this offseason, trading for Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders to be their new starter. But, while the Jets are looking for another free agent veteran, they're also looking to the 2026 NFL Draft class for a rookie QB.
According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, the Jets have begun to show interest in former Miami Hurricanes and Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck. Jets showing interest in Carson Beck "Busy week ahead for Jets GM Darren Mougey," Cimini reports. "Scheduled to meet tonight with Miami QB Carson Beck, then will attend U of Miami pro day tomorrow.
" The Jets showing interest in rookie quarterbacks in this year's class isn't a surprise, especially if they're later-round picks. Fernando Mendoza is going first overall, and while they could turn to Ty Simpson with one of their four top-44 draft picks, landing a QB further down the board would be ideal. Beck, likely to go either late Day 2 or during Day 3 (rounds 4-7) of the NFL Draft, would make a lot of sense as a draft-day target.
