Creighton coach Greg McDermott to reportedly retire at end of season, ending 16-year run with team

Long-time Creighton coach Greg McDermott is reportedly calling it a career. The 61-year-old will reportedly retire at the end of the season, according to ESPN. After stops at Northern Iowa and Iowa State, McDermott was hired by Creighton ahead of the 2010-11 season. His tenure with the team was mostly filled with success, as Creighton made the NCAA tournament 10 times.
The team disappointed during the 2025-26 season, going 15-17 and failing to earn a spot in the NCAA tournament. Instead, the team was selected to play in the College Basketball Crown event, where theyโll take on Rutgers on April 2. This story will be updated.
