There's never been a baseball player like Shohei Ohtani . He's so remarkable that his record-setting impact extends off the field, too, beyond his two-way prowess for the Los Angeles Dodgers in MLB and Samurai Japan in the World Baseball Classic. Even when Ohtani isn't playing, he's making headlines.
The latest came in a jersey auction. Up for bidding was Ohtani's game-worn jersey from March 6, when Japan took on Chinese Taipei in the WBC. The jersey sold on MLB Auctions for $1,500,010.
That's the most ever paid in an auction for an Ohtani jersey, according to ESPN's Dan Hajducky . Most notably in that game, Ohtani hit a grand slam. So this jersey just auctioned off was a WBC grand slam jersey worn by Ohtani.
