Sewing And Munro Continue Dominance In New Global Sports Alliance International Pickleball Tour With Two Golds In Vietnam

The third event of the new Global Sports Pickleball Alliance saw the tour head to Ho Chi Minh City over the weekend, where Jack Munro and Sofia Sewing both won two golds.

DJoy/APP The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) just held the latest of its 2026 slate of international events this past weekend. The tour visited Vietnam with a huge draw of US, Australia, Asia, and Vietnam-based pros for the first leg of the 2026 Pickleball DJoy Petrolimex Cup in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The players present include most the 20+ players that the APP just signed to contracts and the back-end of the draws were stacked with solid international matchups. DJoy publishes its draws onto its social media pages , so tracking down draws can be a bit tricky, but their team does a great job promoting the results day by day. Additionally, they ran their events a bit out of the order we’re accustomed to: Mixed Pro was held on Thursday, Singles Friday, Gender Doubles Saturday, then all finals were played on Sunday.

Kyle Yates, but he was vanquished early (either from defeat or from withdrawal) by local player Pham Tan Sang. As it turns out, international pro singles (not unlike singles on the domestic pro tours) is the great equalizer, and where newer talent can make inroads the fastest. Top seed Phuc Huynh, winner of both the Vietnam Open and Vietnam Cup last year, cruised to the final over a slew of more familiar names to US-based audiences, and there crushed fellow Vietnamese star Dac Thien Nguyen 1,3 for the gold.
