Yellowjackets report: UWS baseball swept by Saint Mary's
Mar. 23—WEST LIBERTY, Iowa. — Wisconsin-Superior couldn't get enough offense going over the weekend, scoring just six times in a four-game sweep at the hands of Saint Mary's.
UWS lost Friday's game in Iowa by an 8-2 count, then dropped a doubleheader 5-0 and 7-2 on Saturday before losing the finale 6-2 on Sunday. Friday, UWS was up 5-0 when Tanner Voight got the Yellowjackets on the board with a solo homer. Wylee Lottman added a foul sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Carter Thielke led the UWS offense, going 3-for-4, while Noah Dagostino added two hits. Josh Pritchard took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits in five innings. UWS was shut out on four hits in Saturday's opener.
Voight had a double. In game two, UWS had five hits, including a Paddy Kelly RBI single. Dagostino added a sacrifice fly.
In Sunday's game, Voight had a solo homer but the UWS offense did not generate any more scoring until a bases-loaded walk in the sixth. Voight (2-for-4) was the only Yellowjacket with multiple hits. UWS (9-7) opens Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play on Friday at Northwestern in St.
