Would A Return To Man Utd Make Sense For James Garner?
James Garner has caught the eye for Everton and now has the chance to make an impression for England ahead of the World Cup.
In what was arguably Everton’s best performance of the entire season so far, James Garner shone brighter than most. The 25-year-old was a commanding presence in the centre of the pitch as the Toffees dismantled Chelsea in a 3-0 victory that pushed David Moyes’ team in contention for European qualification in the Premier League table. Indeed, it was the midfielder who threaded a perfect through-ball for Beto who didn’t have to break his stride to get in behind the Chelsea defensive line and chip a finish over Robert Sanchez and into the back of the net. Throughout the 90 minutes he played, Garner was effective with his use of the ball and offered plenty when playing against Chelsea possession, more than playing his park in an Everton win that has many questioning if the Merseyside outfit could get involved in the race for Champions League qualification.
This performance by Garner came on the back of a call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Uruguay and Japan. A showing like the one the 25-year-old produced for Everton against Chelsea on Saturday could put him on the plane to this summer’s World Cup. “James Garner just has a fantastic season,” said Tuchel when asked about Garner’s inclusion for the friendlies in England’s final camp before the summer.
