Texas A&M transfer WR looking the part during spring practice
Texas A&M transfer WR Isaiah Horton is already looking like an immediate impact player during the second day of spring training.
Texas A&M's spring practice period officially began on Friday afternoon, as coach Mike Elko and his revamped coaching staff welcomed 17 additions from the transfer portal, paired with 25 of 26 signees from the 2026 recruiting class. Among the returning starters from the 2025 season, starting quarterback Marcel Reed, wide receiver Mario Craver, and running back Rueben Owens represent the offensive leaders. This offseason, Elko and new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins added Alabama transfer wide receiver Isaiah Horton, whose relationship with Marcel Reed, going back to their high school playing days, helped seal the deal, which was critical after losing star receiver KC Concepcion, who declared for the 2026 NFL Draft.
Mario Craver's first season with the Aggies resulted in 59 receptions for 917 yards and four touchdowns, and combined with Concepcion, the elite tandem combined for nearly 2,000 yards, but lacked size, especially Craver's 5'9" frame. While Craver is undoubtedly the leader in the room, Isaiah Horton's 6'4" frame and versatility makes Texas A&M's wide receiver room a complete unit. After three seasons at Miami, where he reeled in a career high 616 yards and five touchdowns during the 2024 season, Horton served as the No.
2 receiving option for Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, connecting for 511 yards and eight touchdowns, including three scores against Auburn late in the year. A true X receiver, Horton also provides a big option in the red zone. On Sunday, during Texas A&M's second spring practice, Horton looked the part during various practice reps, donning Concepcion's No.
