Notre Dame baseball had a fantastic weekend, as it swept No. 19 Clemson showing the ACC that they’re contenders this season.

It was a coming out party for Notre Dame baseball this weekend, as they announced to the country that they’re one of the best teams in the ACC after a weekend sweep of No. 19 Clemson . The Irish got a fantastic start on Friday night from Jack Radel, as the Irish’s No.

1 starting pitcher was dominant, throwing a complete-game shutout 6-0 victory allowing just four hits and 8 strikeouts. The two teams would resume the ACC series on Saturday, and it was a much closer contest. The Tigers broke the tie in the top of the seven, taking a 7-5 lead, but Notre Dame wouldn’t go away.

They’d score two-runs in the eight, and an error by Clemson with the bases loaded in the ninth gave the Irish a series clinching victory. Sunday, the Irish saw the Tigers reeling, and took advantage of the situation, jumping out to a 5-1 lead after five innings. Notre Dame would score a pair of runs in the sixth, as Clemson tried to mount a comeback, but fell short 7-4.

Notre Dame is now 14-6 overall and 6-3 in the ACC, good for a five-way tie for second place in the conference. The Irish return to the diamond on Tuesday, as they’ll face off against Western Michigan before resuming its conference schedule hosting North Carolina starting on Friday. FINAL | Irish 7, No.
