Steelers mock draft update after latest free-agent addition
The Steelers added guard Brock Hoffman in free agency and this switches things up in our latest mock draft.
The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off several big moves at the start of free agency, including multiple high-profile signings and a big trade. But recently the Steelers had an under-the-radar addition of guard Brock Hoffman who could quietly be the Steelers starting left guard this season. With that addition, we decided to update our Steelers mock draft, going three rounds this time.
First round - TE Kenyon Sadiq - Oregon We didn't expect a player the caliber of Kenyon Sadiq to fall to No. 21 but if he does, the Steelers cannot pass on him. He's just too dynamic as a receiver and such a mismatch problem.
Second round - WR Germie Bernard - Alabama The rebuild on offense continues with Germie Bernard who offers a ton of value in the slot and is a position-versatile player in the same mold as Deebo Samuel. Third round - CB Julian Neal - Arkansas We jump to defense in the third with Julian Neal, who has the length and athleticism to play the boundary or slide inside to negative matchup advantages. Third round - QB Cole Payton - North Dakota State Payton is clearly a player who has impressed the Steelers as well as the rest of the NFL.
His physical gifts are off the charts and his skills as a passer are largely untapped. Third round - DT Chris McClellan - Missouri We wrap up the third round with Missouri's Chris McClellan, who we still think has enough upside as a 3-4 hybrid defensive lineman who could eventually develop into a starter after Cameron Heyward retires.
