Stonington girls basketball wins CIAC Division IV championship over Morgan for first title since 2006
The championship was the fourth for Stonington in seven appearances.

(Danny Dashefsky/Hearst Connecticut Media) UNCASVILLE - Stonington girls basketball claimed its first CIAC title 2006, defeating Morgan 56-47 in the Division IV championship on Sunday night at Mohegan Sun arena.
It was the seventh championship appearance for seventh-seeded Stonington, which has now won four titles. Stonington was led by Cora Babin (19 points and five rebounds), Addison Cadmus (16 points and nine rebounds) and Sophia Hoinsky (16 points and 12 rebounds). After falling behind 15-9 in the first quarter, Stonington went on to double Morgan's point total in the second and third quarters.
Top-seeded Morgan was appearing in its second straight CIAC championship game after losing in the Class S final last year. Morgan has not won a state title since 2000. The Huskies were led by Sadie Passante, who scored a team-leading 15 points.
