The game was the season opener for both teams โ and the first game ever for the New Mexico franchise โ and it did not disappoint. The teams traded leads nine times.
Latavious Briniโs 2-yard TD late in the fourth quarter put the Pirates ahead to stay after New Mexico had taken the lead on the previous drive. Tykorian Brown threw for 158 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Chupacabras. Arthur Challenor caught two of those touchdowns and 104 yards total receiving.
