Airport softball team gets season started by sweeping Summerfield

Airport's softball team gave up just four hits during a season-opening sweep of Summerfield.

CARLETON โ€“ Strong pitching helped Airportโ€™s softball team get off to a great start. The Jets allowed just four hits during a 12-2, 10-0 sweep of Summerfield on Saturday, March 21. Brooklyn Martin didnโ€™t give up a hit over four innings of work and Alayna McDaniel and Julia Dyson also were strong in the circle.

โ€œAs a team, we had a great day at the plate with every player in the starting lineup earning a hit,โ€ Airport coach Jess Irwin said. More: Cast your vote for Monroe County Region Athlete of Week March 16-22 Olivia Tilley and Brityn Duffy led the way with four hits each. Lilly Delmotte, Brea Olmstead, Chloe Lilly and Mia Samples had the hits for Summerfield.

PREP BASEBALL Bedford pitching dominant TEMPERANCE โ€“ Bedford allowed just one hit during a 15-0, 11-2 sweep of Jackson Saturday. Corbin Miller and Evan Bullard combined on a four-inning no-hitter in the opener and Griffin Brush, Jaxon Lestock and Chase Atkins tossed a -onehitter in the second game. Brush, Lestock and Keagan Dixon had two hits each in the first game.

Dixon drove in four runs and Brush three. Cashton Sedlar went 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs in the nightcap. HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL All-LCAA teams picked BLISSFIELD โ€“ Dundee and Ida failed to get any first-team selections in All-Lenawee County Athletic Association teams selected by league coaches.
