The New England Patriots and New York could target a Pro Bowler on the Dallas Cowboys after the first wave of NFL free agency.

The New England Patriots and New York Jets could be in the market for a wide receiver, and an NFL analyst believes both teams should pursue a pass-catcher on the Dallas Cowboys who is on the franchise tag.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox linked New England and New York to Pickens, who received the nonexclusive tag from Dallas at the end of February. "There would be risk involved with signing Pickens to an offer sheet, considering the cost and the maturity concerns that forced him away from the Pittsburgh Steelers . However, it could be worth considering for teams with a surplus of cap space and a need at receiver, like the New York Jets and New England Patriots," Knox wrote.

Any team can offer Pickens a contract right now, and the Cowboys would have the option to either match it or let Pickens walk and receive two first-round picks in compensation. New England and New York have a ton of future draft capital, but it's unknown whether either team wants to give up two Round 1 selections for Pickens, while also giving him an extension worth over $30 million annually. Pickens is coming off a career year in 2025, tallying 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns on 93 receptions, earning Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors.

The 25-year-old would be an electric addition to the Patriots or Jets' offenses, but the price tag may be a bit pricy for both.
