LSU women's basketball made NCAA history, setting a new Division I record for most 100-point games in a season.

BATON ROUGE, LA − LSU women's basketball now stands alone in the NCAA record books after a March Madness blowout 101-47 win over Texas Tech at Pete Maravich Assembly Center. On Sunday, the Tigers broke a Division I women's NCAA record for the most 100-point games in a single season with their 16th. The previous record of 15 games was held by Long Beach State (1986-1987).

LSU tied Long Beach State's record on Friday, March 20, with a 116-58 win over Jacksonville. Per ESPN , the Tigers are the second team ever to open an NCAA Tournament run with consecutive 50-point victories. "Obviously, as a basketball player, and just like a little girl growing up watching basketball, it's everybody's dream to have their names in the history books," junior guard Mikaylah Williams said.

"So, it's truly a good feeling and a blessing to even be able to do this and show our talent on the biggest stage. " "Super cool," senior guard Flau'jae Johnson added. The Tigers ended their 100-point victory over Texas Tech with four players in double-figures, including Williams and Johnson ― who both had 24 point.

Two other teammates, Kate Koval (10 points and 10 rebounds) and Amiya Joyner (11 points and 11 rebounds), added double-doubles to the tally sheet. If you ask LSU coach Kim Mulkey, the record for most 100-point games in a season doesn't matter much. "I don't think one thing about it," Mulkey said postgame.
