MINNEAPOLIS โ Leading by eight entering the fourth quarter, Ole Miss womenโs basketball was in a solid position to beat Minnesota in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The No. 5 seed Rebels (24-12) had built their lead thanks to 25-point third quarter and had pulled momentum away from the No.
4 seed Golden Gophers (24-8) at Williams Arena on March 22. But just 41 seconds into the final quarter, Cotie McMahon picked up her fourth foul and left the floor. She came back in with 5:44 to play but just over a minute later she was called for a charge and fouled out with 4:22 on the clock and her team up by five.
Without McMahon on the floor, the Rebelsโ lead dwindled, Minnesota closed the gap, and Amaya Battle hit a game-winner with 0. 8 seconds left to lift the Golden Gophers over the Rebels 65-63 . โI was in the locker room just thinking about other star players on teams.
