Can the Golden Eagles bounce back from a narrow loss to a ranked team with another home game just two days later?

At this point of the year, sitting at 5-4 through nine games and 0-1 in the Big East, it’s clear that the only way forward to calling this season a success will be by qualifying for the Big East tournament and getting some postseason participation on the board. We’ll get into it more this weekend, but there’s a clear pathway to one of the four conference tournament spots for Marquette right now after giving up a lead to the Hoyas. MU can’t impact that pathway at all on Monday afternoon, but taking care of business against UC Davis might be able to set themselves up for success through the remaining five games of league action.
You just can’t let one disappointing loss turn into a second one, and then go into what amounts to a must-win conference game carrying all of that baggage. Going into a league game that you need to win coming off a win after a strong performance against a ranked team even if that was a loss? That’s an entirely different can of worms, and it’s definitely one that head coach Meredith Black will want to open up for her troops for this matinee game.
