Mainz 05 and Urs Fischer celebrate ‘a perfect week’ after huge upset Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt After pulling out a massive Bundesliga win over “Rhein Rivals” Eintracht Frankfurt, Mainz 05 head coach Urs Fischer has expressed plenty of optimism that his club can avoid the drop. The latest win leaves Fischer’s team undefeated in seven matches on-the-trot. Nine points collected from their last five league fixtures push Mainz up to 11th place in the Bundesliga table on 30 points.

The generally accepted “Bundesliga Safety Threshold” is well within reach with seven matchdays remaining. Mainz celebrate the “perfect week” Last week’s league victory over Werder Bremen and Thursday’s historic Conference League victory over SK Sigma Olomouc give Fischer’s charges three wins within the pace of seven days. The FSV head coach made more than one specific reference to this at the post match press conference.

Interestingly, Fischer barely rotated his squad over the past seven days. Only Sheraldo Becker and Nelson Weiper have taken turns serving alongside striker Philipp Tietz in Fischer’s 3-3-2-2. Everyone else remained in the XI for three consecutive matches.

Fischer addressed this at the press conference as well, in addition to the fact that he’s rolled out the exact same XI in three consecutive Bundesliga fixtures. Reporters at the media round also wanted to get more quotes out of Fischer on his resurgent red hot star Paul Nebel. They weren’t disappointed.

Urs Fischer speaks on results, rotations, and Nebel “ It’s been a perfect week for us, ” Fischer remarked at the post-match press conference. “ After last week’s win in Bremen and Thursday’s historic Conference League victory, to see a performance like this one after just two-and-a-half days was amazing. We got the goals and defended passionately in a 5-4-1.
