Arsenal loanee makes it 6 g/a in 9 with Dortmund assist Fabio Vieira kept his run of goal contributions going on Saturday by setting up ex-Arsenal teammate Albert Sambi Lokonga for a goal away to Borussia Dortmund. Photo by Stuart Franklin/Getty Images Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira has been in excellent form with Bundesliga club Hamburger SV in recent weeks, and he kept that going with an assist away to high-flying Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Though Dortmund went into the weekend nine points behind league leaders Bayern Munich, they remain the undisputed second-best team in the division, with the chance to go 11 points clear of third place with a win at home to HSV.

That win was certainly in doubt in the first half, as HSV took the lead through Philip Otele before Vieira made his mark. The goalkeeper could only parry the right-footed effort, and Dortmund’s attempts to play out only saw the ball landing back at Vieira’s feet.

This time, the Arsenal loanee opted to pass, playing an incisive through ball to ex-Gunner Albert Sambi Lokonga , who fired into the net for 2-0. The assist was Vieira’s sixth direct goal contribution in his last nine Bundesliga appearance, including goals against Bayern and Leipzig, and now an assist against Dortmund. After Vieira’s withdrawal at 2-0 in the 67th minute, the team collapsed, conceding in the 73rd, 78th, and 84th minutes to lose 3-2. If anything, that collapse only raises Vieira’s stock even further, and HSV’s negotiating position for a permanent transfer only gets weaker with each passing week. HSV already have personal terms in place with Vieira on a long-term contract, but they don’t want to pay his purchase clause of €20m.

Instead, they’re hoping to pay a “high single-digit million euro sum”, according to a recent Bild article . If the 25-year-old continues to rack up the goals and assists with HSV, there’s little chance Arsenal would accept such a fee.
