Stevenage Fans Verdict: A Toothless And Timid Reading Showing

Sky F1

It’s fair to say the fans were not in a good mood on Saturday evening after witnessing a toothless performance.

Whether you think it’s deserved, for us to be six weeks or so away from the end of the season and very much in a playoff race – when you think about where we were when Leam Richardson came in – that’s an achievement in itself. However, now we’re there, we simply have to do better than we did on Saturday. We’ve seen collapses, defensive mistakes and seemingly clueless hoofs forward – but it’s been a while since we saw a showing as toothless, timid and nervous as against Stevenage.

Here’s how the fans reacted to the game… Toothless going forward For a variety of reasons, little of the football we’ve seen this season has been very entertaining. We’re not a team who play free-flowing, attacking football. However, the second half in particular against Stevenage was poor in this regard even by our standards.

Zero shots and just two touches in Stevenage’s box (after the break) and a total xG from open play of 0. 01 (across the entire 90) is just unacceptable. And the fans know that… Didnt register a single shot in the second half today 😬.

I do wonder what Leam says to the lads at half time #readingfc — Oscark_rfc (@Oscar_rfc1871) March 21, 2026 Not one shot second half infront of a sold out away end, leam must love us! #readingfc — Owen Atkins (@owen_atki) March 21, 2026 Players and manager should hang their heads in shame. To play like that in a six pointer in front of a sold out away end is unforgivable.
