Jon Scheyer addresses turnover concerns after win vs. TCU
The Blue Devils defeated the TCU Horned Frogs Saturday, earning a spot in the Sweet 16. That said, they committed a concerning amount of turnovers.
Top overall seed Duke took care of No. 9 seed TCU in convincing fashion on Saturday in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament, using a big run in second half to pull away from the Horned Frogs in an 81-58 victory. That said, the Blue Devils had trouble taking care of the ball once again.
Duke committed 17 turnovers, marking its second-highest total this season, to TCU's eight. Although it didn't cost them the victory, the Blue Devils have now lost the turnover battle in both of their NCAA Tournament games thus far. After the game, head coach Jon Scheyer spoke about the influx of turnovers, giving credit to TCU's defense.
"Credit them, they have a very good defense," the coach said. "They pressure you. They have active hands.
I thought in the second half we just had more poise of understanding how we're trying to fight for the rim and making more really simple plays. " Looking ahead, Duke will now await either St. John's or Kansas in the Sweet 16, another big test for the Blue Devils.
