Providence tabs up-and-coming mid-major coach to replace Kim English
Bryan Hodgson is leaving after one season at South Florida for a Big East job after leading the Bulls to the NCAA tournament this season.
One of the biggest jobs available in the men's basketball coaching carousel has now been filled. On Sunday, Providence officially announced former South Florida coach Bryan Hodgson ā the 2026 American Coach of the Year ā as its next head coach. The 38-year-old Hodgson will replace Kim English, who was fired following his third season at the helm.
"I'm incredibly honored and excited to be named the next head coach of the Providence Friars men's basketball program," Hodgson said in a release. "This is a program with a proud tradition, passionate fan base, and a city that truly embraces its team. We're going to build something that reflects that pride.
