2026 NFL mock draft: Broncos add to defense in 2nd round

Yahoo Sports

The Broncos land a linebacker in the second round of this 2026 NFL mock draft.

In his recent three-round NFL mock draft for FanSided, Cody Williams has the Denver Broncos addressing a long-term position of need on defense. Williams projects Cincinnati linebacker Jake Golday falling to the Broncos at pick No. 62 overall in the second round.

Golday (6-4, 239 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4. 62 seconds and a 10-yard split in 1. 6 seconds at the NFL combine.

Golday met with the Broncos in Indianapolis, and he's considered one of the top LBs in this year's class. NFL. com's Lance Zierlein described Golday as " average in coverage ," which wouldn't be ideal for the Broncos given that they've struggled to cover tight ends and running backs in recent seasons.

Still, the 22-year-old linebacker would provide more depth and competition to the room, and he would be playing on a team-friendly rookie contract while Alex Singleton (33 in December) and Justin Strnad (30 in August) enter the later stages of their careers. Following the Jaylen Waddle trade , Denver holds seven picks in the 2026 NFL draft, which will be held in Pittsburgh from April 23-25. Social : Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X !
