UFC Fight Night 270 video: London challenging for finishes again
Check out the four knockouts for UFC London.
When the UFC returned to London in 2022, two years after COVID scrapped its annual March visit, the fighters blew the proverbial lid off The O2. UFC Fight Night 204, headlined by then-future heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall against Alexander Volkov, had nine finishes in 12 fights, including highlight-reel moments from British stars Aspinall, Arnold Allen, Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann, and a knockout from future two-division champ Ilia Topuria . The night was so filled with stoppages that the UFC decided to give out $50,000 bonuses to everyone who had a finish – nine in total.
But that magic only seemed to be a one-time thing. The London events since then have led to events with these stoppage totals: 5/14, 6/15, 6/14, 4/13 and 4/13 – 25 finishes in five events for just a 36 percent clip. That 64 percent decision percentage at the five most recent London shows is in pretty glaring contrast from the UFC’s typical stats, which tend to be around 50 percent decisions.
At UFC Fight Night 270 at The O2 on Saturday, there were four TKO finishes. Two of them got $100,000 post-fight bonuses, and another pair cashed $25,000 checks for their finishes outside the $100K bonus structure. Check out all four of those stoppages in the video above.
