The gaffer took more positives from the first half, but criticised Reading’s display after the break.

The Royals suffered another late defeat on Saturday, this time against fellow playoff chasers Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium. Stevenage scored in the 85th minute through Dan Kemp to secure the points and move themselves ahead of Reading in the top-six chase. The Royals now sit eighth, just two points off Stevenage in sixth.

Here is what manager Leam Richardson had to say, he spoke to Royals TV. Richardson on the defeat “We are disappointed with the defeat. I thought we shaded the first half.

We came with a similar intent as we did Burton and Northampton, very aware of what we had in the squad. “We were poor in the second half, really poor, for many reasons. The changes of shape with Randell [Williams] and Jeriel [Dorsett] coming off but we have to be better in our duels, our shape and with our intent.

“We didn’t have many final-third entries, whereas in the first half, we had 30+ and more than 20 box entries. We need more of that in the second half. “Fair credit to Stevenage, they were worthy winners.
