Josh Elander recaps Tennessee's win to tie Missouri baseball series
Josh Elander recaps the Vols' win against Missouri in Game 2.
No. 23 Tennessee (16-7, 2-3 SEC) tied a three-game Southeastern Conference baseball series, 1-1. The Vols defeated Missouri (15-8, 1-4 SEC), 4-2, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Game 2.
Tennessee recorded seven hits in the contest, including thee doubles from Henry Ford, Garrett Wright and Stone Lawless. “Those are older guys that know what it takes to execute and win, and we've challenged them,” first-year Tennessee head coach Josh Elander said after the game. “You guys know how to do it, but you got to do it.
I think the further we get into SEC play, the difference between last night and tonight is, I thought guys were just competing and trying to win the game rather than not trying to do this or trying to do too much. That's what's beautiful about this league is, once those guys turn the page to that it's pretty fun. ” A series finale between the Vols and Tigers will be contested Sunday.
First pitch is slated for 1 p. m. EDT at Lindsey Nelson Stadium (SEC Network+).
