During his introductory press conference , former Kansas City Chiefs Charles Omenihu was asked about the decision to sign with the Washington Commanders. He revealed that the coaching staff was a crucial factor in Omenihu's decision. "I just love their plan for me, honestly, I had a before I signed.

I had a conversation with the entire staff, the defense, and coach (Dan) Quinn. They illustrated a plan for me that I feel like is going to get me back exactly where I was at two seasons ago, the success that I had," said Omenihu, "I don't think it's far-fetched or far-gone at all. I feel great body-wise.

I just think the plan that they have for me is just really going to expose my strengths and put me in positions to rush, put me in positions to play the run at a high level. And I love that. " Former Chiefs teammate Leo Chenal will join Omenihu on the Commanders, as the team signed many defensive free agents this offseason.

"If you just look at the other guys that they brought in, I've been in the league for eight years now, and a lot of these guys I know, and I know them personally, there's a lot of really, really good players that they brought in," said Omenihu, "really good players already on this team. So I wouldn't be surprised if you know there's big strides here this year. " Omenihu finished the 2025 season with 28 tackles and 3.
