It was a very chalky first round, as expected, particularly with all four No. 1 seeds showing complete dominance.

This crop of No. 1s look poised to withstand upset bids, but some of the other top 16 seeds do not. Let’s see how everyone stacks up after round one: Connecticut Huskies It’s hard to glean much from a 90-52 first-round victory, but one thing is certain: UConn is still the team to beat.

The Huskies have relied heavily on Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd this season, but Ashlynn Shade, Blanca Quinonez and Kayleigh Heckel all provided a lift against USTA. Heckel was particularly impressive, coming off the bench to record 11 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals. That’s a great sign for the Huskies.
