NFL Analyst ranks Chiefs' veteran signing among top offseason bargains
According to a recent report, Kansas City Chiefs veteran signing Khyiris Tonga is among the top offseason bargains | @EdEastonJr
The offseason free agency frenzy has already netted the Kansas City Chiefs multiple players expected to make immediate impacts in 2026. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach and his staff may have found some hidden gems and signed them to team-friendly deals. According to Jared Dubin of CBS Sports , the Chiefs' signing of defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga was identified as one of the 10 best bargain deals of the offseason through one week.
"Tonga is typically the kind of player you don't like to pay. A guy in the middle of his career (he'll turn 30 this offseason) who was available for next to nothing one year before having a career season and then getting paid. " wrote Dubin , "But he was so good in his role last year that I think it makes sense — especially at this price point, which isn't crazy at all.
The Chiefs need this type of run-stopper in the middle. " Kansas City signed Tonga to a three-year, $21 million deal last week. Last season, he started 8 of the 14 games, recording 24 tackles for the AFC Champion New England Patriots.
During his five-year career, he has 113 tackles, . 5 sacks, one fumble recovery, and six pass deflections/batted balls. Tonga previously played with the Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, and Arizona Cardinals since being selected by the Chicago Bears in the 2021 NFL Draft.
