For the fourth time in program history, and for the first time since 2011, the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes are WIAA state boys basketball champions.

MADISON – Whitefish Bay boys basketball coach Ryan Fiet said in the locker room after the WIAA Division 2 state title game on Saturday night, March 21, at the Kohl Center, "They don't bring runners-up teams back for reunions. " After celebrating the 1996 and 2011 state title teams earlier this season, the Blue Dukes will have another gold ball to add to their overflowing athletic trophy collection back home. Behind a wonderful, effective offensive display and a hard-nosed defensive approach against one of the state's top offenses in North Shore Conference foe Slinger, the Blue Dukes captured their fourth state boys basketball title in program history with a 77-46 rout of the top-seeded Owls.

The victory marked the ninth time in WIAA history that a school won both boys and girls state basketball titles and the first time since 2022 when Randolph accomplished the feat. It also marked the first time in WIAA history that one school swept both the boys and girls state swim and dive titles, along with the boys and girls basketball titles in the same school year. "Our defense was locked in," Fiet said with a big smile.

"That's the best we've played our matchup zone in probably about two years. Our guys were flying around communicating. They knew who they had to get out on, who they had to run off the line, who they can stay off of on rotations.

They were phenomenal at it all night long. They created nothing but I think frustration and chaos. They were just so locked in.
