Harry Kane timed a perfect run and split the center-backs int he 9th minute, but just could not get the ball in.
A minute later, impressive youngster Leopold Querfeld stopped a driving Michael Olise to thwart a threat. Union Berlin stuck to its gameplan and was compact, but Bayern Munich was much more brave with its dribbling and stretching the field. Both tactics to combat the packed in setup were very effective.
