Movsar Evloev calls for UFC title shot: 'What else?'

Yahoo Sports

Now 20-0, Movsar Evloev calls for a title shot against UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.

Movsar Evloev wants what he says is rightfully his: a shot at the UFC featherweight title. Evloev (20-0 MMA, 10-0 UFC), long considered the No. 1 contender at 145 pounds, moved to 20-0 by handing fellow contender Lerone Murphy his first professional defeat.

Evloev beat Murphy (17-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) in a majority decision in the main event of Saturday's UFC Fight Night 270 at The O2 in London. "I had nine victories (in the UFC) before this fight, and mostly I used my wrestling. But like I've said before many times, my striking is also good," Evloev told reporters backstage at the UFC Fight Night 270 post-fight press conference.

"Maybe even if I can't finish, if I show my striking skills, maybe it will be the key to getting the title shot. (It was) against a good striker in his land, an undefeated guy, so what else? Let's fight for the title.

" Many, including the UFC commentators, questioned the scoring behind Evloev's win. He won the decision of a close fight, and was deducted a point in Round 4 due to an accidental groin kick. Even with the point deduction, Evloev thought he was the better fighter throughout the 25 minutes.
