Crochet posted a 7. 36 ERA this spring, and his next start will come against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday in Cincinnati. Crochet had a great spring training last season, but lasted just five innings in the season opener and allowed two runs.
“Last year: good spring, bad first start,” Crochet said, per MassLive's Chris Cotillo on Saturday. “This year: bad spring... I can only hope.
” Red Sox fans will certainly be hoping for a strong start from their ace. He was the American League Cy Young Award runner-up last season, so what happened this spring? Whatever it was, Crochet thinks he has done better than the numbers would suggest.
