Mikayla Blakes set the Vanderbilt women's basketball single-season scoring record in the second quarter of the Commodores ' Women's NCAA Tournament first round game against High Point on March 21 at Memorial Gymnasium. Blakes, a sophomore guard, broke the record when she scored her 19th point in the game, which Vanderbilt led 54-32 at halftime. It gave her 856 points for the 2025-26 season.
That surpassed the previous record set of 855 points scored in the 1989-90 season by Wendy Scholtens. Blakes went on to score four more points, giving her 23 at halftime. Blakes was the SEC Player of the Year this season, helping lead Vanderbilt to a two-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
High Point is the 15-seed. Blakes is also an AP first team All-American. The Vanderbilt vs.
