Clemson women's basketball star Mia Moore thought she won the March Madness game for the Tigers but it was waved off and then lost in overtime to USC.

COLUMBIA โ€” Mia Moore thought she had won a March Madness first-round game in regulation for Clemson women's basketball in heroic, thrilling fashion. Moore raced down the court and hit a running 3-pointer to seemingly give the Tigers a win vs Southern Cal. But when the refs reviewed the buzzer-beater, it showed the ball didn't leave the senior guard's hands until after the clock hit zero.

That sent the game into overtime where the No. 8 seed Tigers (21-12) lost 71-67 to No. 8 Southern Cal (18-13).

The first Women's NCAA Tournament appearance for Clemson in seven seasons came to a heartbreaking end on March 21 in Colonial Life Arena. "Initially I thought it was good but I guess I came up short," Moore said. "I really thought I was going to at least get the foul call there and be able to go to the foul line.

" Moore leads Clemson with 13. 5 points per game but had nine points in the loss, failing to score in the first three quarters. She had eight in the fourth then one in overtime, finishing 2-of-12 from the floor.
