(Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC) Michael Page had a successful return to the welterweight division, but it won’t be a performance that will generate more members to his fan club. Page faced Sam Patterson in the featured bout of UFC London on Saturday at O2 Arena.
In the end, “MVP” got the victory via unanimous decision in a fight that was heavily booed by the U. K. fans.
To add more context, only 39 significant strikes were landed in the entire fight without a single takedown landed in the bout. Patterson attempted a pair of unsuccessful takedowns, while Page’s best round in terms of strike totals was 12 significant strikes landed in the third round in just 19 attempts. Page’s defense was solid, as usual, as Patterson didn’t land more than six significant strikes in any round of the bout.
The former Bellator star returned to 170 after a brief, two-fight run at middleweight where he went 2-o in the division. As expected, fighters voiced their opinions in regards to the forgettable fight. Check them out below.
