Ruby Evans and Joe Fraser are crowned all-around champions at the Artistic Gymnastics British Championships in Liverpool.

[Getty Images] Ruby Evans and Joe Fraser have been crowned all-around champions at the Artistic Gymnastics British Championships in Liverpool. Evans, who turned 19 this week, claimed Wales' first national title in more than 60 years, finishing ahead of Ruby Stacey and Shantae-Eve Amankwaah. Fraser, 27, clinched the men's title, with Jonas Rushworth and Jake Jarman making up the podium at a packed out M&S Bank Arena.

Great Britain's most successful gymnast Max Whitlock also continued his return to the sport on day three of the championships, having come out of retirement in November. Whitlock in action at British Championships, live on BBC "I feel good, I'm happy. I didn't expect to win," Evans told British Gymnastics.

"I'm proud of the journey I've been on. I surprised myself with how the competition went. I started off on beam, it wasn't that good - so wobbly - my legs were shaking, everything was shaking, I couldn't wait to get off.

"Floor was decent, vault I didn't warm up well and bars that was my first one of the year and I did it. "This gives me a lot of confidence going into the year ahead. " Fraser said the title was "very special".
