The New York Giants have had an interesting offseason so far, being very selective in the free-agent contracts they have handed out.
While some fans have pounded the table for the team to hand out big deals to guys like Wyatt Teller or make a trade for a guy like Jaylen Waddle, the team has instead opted for more cost-effective players at those positions. One position where the team placed a focus on has been wide receiver and while big deals have been given to guys like Alec Pierce and Mike Evans, Joe Schoen and John Harbaugh elected to go with Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III to replace the hole left when Wan'dale Robinson signed with the Tennessee Titans . The wide receiver spot has been an area of concern for several seasons in New York now, and the team will have to replace a good bit of production with the loss of Robinson.
The front office has chosen to add a couple of options for Jaxson Dart to work with and could still add to the group in the draft. The signings of Mooney and Austin give the Giants much more depth at this time of year and with a healthy Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton, it has a chance to be a formidable group. However, for one player in particular, these additions are bad news.
Jalin Hyatt could soon be out in New York Jalin Hyatt was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Tennessee, bringing with him some high hopes for the team's future. He caught 23 passes as a rookie but in the past two seasons combined, he has a grand total of 13 catches. That has come out of a wide receiver room that had plenty of room for a young player to step up, and he hasn't been able to do it.
