The 58th ADAC Barbarossapreis NLS race was moved a week to fit into F1's first offweek , giving the four-time champion a chance to race. Verstappen claimed pole for the 58th ADAC Barbarossapreis at the Nurburgring this weekend.
In the race, he and his teammates, Dani Juncadella and Jules Gounon, ran away to a dominant finish, beating the rest of the top class to the finish line by a full minute. Their victory celebration was cut short when it was discovered that seven sets of tires had been used during the race, not the six sets alluded to. As first reported by Sportscars365 , Winward’s team principal, Christian Hohenadel, shared that the mistake was made, but it’s now time to turn focus to getting the team prepared to run its first 24-hour Nurburgring this summer.
"Unfortunately, a mistake was made within our team, which forced race control to disqualify the winning car retrospectively," Hohenadel said. "It was our first outing as the Mercedes-AMG Performance Team on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. I would like to apologize to everyone who was cheering us on.
"We will now analyze the day thoroughly, meticulously prepare for the upcoming races, and work with full concentration towards the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring.
