College analyst Pete Thamel has the latest on the Hubert Davis situation

It didn't take long for discussion about Hubert Davis' future to start following North Carolina's loss to VCU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. After the Tar Heels blew a 19-point lead in the second half, the frustrations from the fan base continued to mount. And then the national media got involved as well, questioning the future of Davis in Chapel Hill.

On Saturday, college reporter Pete Thamel provided the latest on Davis calling the situation 'in flux' at the moment and that a decision should come in a few days. "The future of Hubert Davis at North Carolina right now is squarely in flux," Thamel said. "In the wake of these back-to-back first-round NCAA tournament exits.

The sides are expected to talk in the upcoming days, and no decision on Davis's future is expected until early next week. " The program had season ending meetings this morning but no decision has been made just yet. Thamel did mention another interesting tidbit on a decision, saying it would likely be a mutual agreement rather than an outright firing.

"Do not expect Davis to be fired outright," Thamel continued. "Any kind of departure would be synchronized, likely between he and the school. Hubert Davis is a legend at North Carolina and will be treated with that type of respect.
