Ajax youngster picks Morocco over Belgium As reported by HLN , Rayane Bounida of Ajax has made a decision of who he wants to represent at international level. The 20-year-old has, like a number of players in the past few years, decided that he would prefer to represent Morocco over Belgium. The Atlas Lions have done well to tap into their diaspora and convince players of dual nationality to pick them over the European nations.

Belgium had talked to Bounida a number of times in the past few months to try and convince him to continue to represent Belgium, the nation he had been capped at already at youth level. Bounida is not the only player to pick another nation over Belgium. Konstantinos Karetsas chose Greece, while Sunderland winger Chemsdine Talbi also opted for Morocco.

One boost for Belgium has been that Bounida’s Ajax teammate Jorthy Mokio decided to represent Belgium. Bounida has played well for Ajax so far this season, with 23 appearances in all competitions. He has provided Ajax with two goals and eight assists from out wide.
