Late goal in Tamworth win keeps Rochdale top
A late winner from 41-year-old Ian Henderson helps Rochdale beat Tamworth and stay top of the National League.
National League Rochdale 3 - 2 Tamworth FT Rochdale returned to winning ways and kept hold of top spot in the National League as Ian Henderson's late winner saw off Tamworth 3-2 in a five-goal thriller. Ryan East gave Dale a 13th-minute lead as they looked to respond to their midweek defeat at Southend United, but they trailed to mid-table Tamworth 10 minutes later as Dan Creaney nodded home before Oliver Lynch struck his third goal in two games. Rochdale responded through Dan Moss' header before Emmanuel Dieseruvwe missed the chance to make it 3-2 at half-time when he hit the crossbar with a stoppage-time penalty.
The action continued after the break, with Tamworth's Ben Acquaye being denied by Oliver Whatmuff and East hitting a post at the other end. However, Henderson struck in the 80th minute when the 41-year-old controlled Aidan Barlow's cross before firing in his fifth goal of the campaign and Rochdale clung on as Michael Reindorf hit the crossbar for the visitors.
