Derrick White on playing all of fourth, Luka Garza helping Boston Celtics win vs. Grizzlies

Things did not go all that great for Derrick White in the first three frames. But the fourth sealed the deal.

Things did not go all that great for Derrick White in the first three frames of the Boston Celtics 117-112 road win over the Memphis Grizzlies this past Friday (March 20) night. But that did not keep Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla from leaving the Colorado native in for the whole fourth quarter after teammate Luka Garza helped keep Boston afloat earlier in the contest. Asked about his play in the final frame in a walkoff interview, White said "I was playing as bad as it gets for three quarters, so I had to help the team out a little bit.

" "That's a line that we've used a lot this year, and obviously Joe's got a lot of confidence in it," he added. "So, I found a way to get a win, and let's get back home. " Garza had helped keep Memphis from building momentum for much of the rest of the contest, putting up close to a career high in scoring with 22 points, 7 rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

"He's amazing," said the Colorado - Boulder alum. "He plays so hard every single second he's out there. He does so many little things for us and ultimate competitors.

So big plays all game, really. Kept us in it and huge plays down the stretch. " Listen to "Havlicek Stole the Pod" on: Blue Wire: https://tiny.
