The Georgia Bulldogs have landed a commitment from OL Tyler Johnson, the son of a former Kirby Smart teammate in Athens.

A chip off the old block. An apple that doesn't fall far from the tree. A spitting image of his father.

Whatever cliche you want to use, that's what Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart is likely hoping for his newest offensive line commit in the 2027 class, Tyler Johnson. On Saturday morning, the 3-star OL committed to the Bulldogs, following in the footsteps of his father Travis Johnson, who played center in Athens back in 1996. Johnson also happened to play alongside Smart and Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.

Ty Johnson is rated the nationโ€™s No. 42 offensive tackle prospect and the No. 471 overall prospect by the 247Sports Composite.

He plays at Lucy Beckham High School. He stands at 6-foot-5, 300 pounds, and plays right tackle in high school. Johnson told 247Sports that he tried hard not to automatically follow in his dad's footsteps and be unbiased in his recruiting process, but in the end, committing to his dad's former team was a special feeling.
