Ron Bellamy returns to Michigan football as personnel director

•Yahoo Sports

Former Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy is returning to the Wolverines as the new director of player personnel.

Upon taking over the Michigan football program, Kyle Whittingham nearly cleaned house, both on the front lines as well as behind the scenes. There were a few holdovers, with running backs coach Tony Alford and defensive line coach Lou Esposito being offered to stay. But Esposito ended up departing when Jesse Minter hired him for the same role with the Baltimore Ravens.

The recruiting department remained the same for a time, but eventually, general manager Sean Magee was replaced by Dave Peloquin. One of the big questions remaining, however, has been who would replace outgoing director of player personnel Albert Karschnia? As it turns out, it's a former on-field coach.

Per The Detroit Free Press's Tony Garcia, Whittingham is set to hire back former Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy for the vacant director of player personnel post.
