Coming off a win over Britain’s Arthur Fery in round one, Tsitsipas followed it up by seeing off De Minaur 6-3, 7-6 to move through to the next round. The result also extends Tsitsipas’ dominance over De Minaur, giving him a 12-1 lead in their head-to-head meetings.

De Minaur has struggled with form since his title run in Rotterdam. The Australian has now exited early from Acapulco, Indian Wells and Miami. The win for Tsitsipas also marks a milestone he hasn’t reached in almost two years.

His last came at the Monte-Carlo final, where he defeated Casper Ruud to lift the trophy. Since then, Tsitsipas has found the Masters tournaments tough going.

The furthest he’s gone in any of them was a quarter-final finish, something he managed at the 2024 Italian Open, the Paris Masters later that year, and again at Monte-Carlo in 2025. This season didn’t start much better for him either. He went out early again with a first-round loss at Indian Wells before his latest run in Miami.

Stefanos Tsitsipas reflects on his win over Alex de Minaur in Miami After the match, Tsitsipas spoke about managing the pressure late in the match. “There were moments in the match that felt really good. I had to handle the nerves towards the end.
