Giants running back says CTE is 'fake'
Giants running back Cam Skattebo has a controversial take on CTE.
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo is catching a lot of heat after he made comments a few days ago about CTE. When asked in a recent interview about CTE, he said this: “You think CTE is a real thing? ” Skattebo: “No, it’s an excuse.
” The running back also believes asthma is an excuse, too. “Yeah just literally breath air. ” Skattebo said earlier this season that he’d never consider wearing a guardian cap and doesn’t fear any potential brain damage.
Naturally, his comments raised eyebrows among many. CTE, or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, is a brain injury that occurs after too many hits to the head. Several NFL players have suffered from it and some to this day.
Former NFL players have also committed suicide because of it. Junior Seau, Mike Webster, Kenny Stabler, Dave Dureson, and Aaron Hernandez all committed suicide. All suffered from a form of CTE.
